Why does my odometer stop working on my Harley Davidson?
It’s located on the transmission just behind the rear pipe. A good quality gear lube will just about eliminate this problem. The magnetic speed sensor pick up gets fouled from the metal shavings in the transmission which causes the speedo to stop working and the directionals to stop self canceling because of no input to the ECM from the sensor.

What causes check engine light to go out on Harley Davidson?
It is roughly 25 miles to the dealership, about 3 miles from the shop it went out, this time the check engine light came on, 2 blocks from the shop I stopped at a traffic light when I pulled off everything resumed working. Mechanic plugged into ECM no trouble codes were recorded. He has no clue what could be causing this to happen.
