Why does my Mitsubishi Magna not accelerate properly?
Pressing the accelerator quickly (i.e. flooring it) only makes the thing cough and shudder. To accelerate I have to flutter the accelerator to get going OR if I drop it into first and floor the accelerator I can accelerate normally (though this cant be good for it I’m sure) Not fuel filter or spark plugs.

I’ve got a 98 Magna Solara Auto which has an acceleration problem. I’ve taken it to the local bloke who pulled the thing apart and couldn’t work out the problem. Pressing the accelerator quickly (i.e. flooring it) only makes the thing cough and shudder.
Why is the ECU on my Magna not working?
Just to reset the ECU. Sounds like too much fuel is getting in, and its choking the engine. Take it to a decent shop that can diagnose the exact problem. Prob the ecu. If the ECU wasn’t working then I would think the car would not start at all.

Ensure all vacuum components are functioning properly. Turn ignition on with engine off for 10 seconds. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Start engine and idle for 30 seconds. Slowly vary engine speed between idle and 3500 RPM 5 times. Return engine to idle.
