Why does my Jeep Liberty make a rattling noise?

Why does my Jeep Liberty make a rattling noise?

My wife has a 2008 Jeep Liberty. Recently when the air is on (vent, heat or AC) a rattling noise that I would say sounds similar to…fan bearings is coming from the passenger side dash air vent. Not sure what the issue is, the sound does not seem to come from any of the other vents. Any suggestions on what the issue is?

What makes a clicking noise when the AC is turned off?

Clicking really doesn’t describe it properly since it’s loud. Best way to describe the sound is it sounds like plastic hitting plastic, almost as if you would strike the dash with a plastic dowel. I’ve also heard the noise when the car is shut off and I’ll bump against it.

Where is the blower motor on a jeep?

Thats the blower motor/interior fan, Its located above the passenger footwell behind the glovebox, so that would be what youre hearing. Mine made that noise before but it eventually went away. It’s relatively easy to replace though if you have to, only 3 screws and remove one electrical connector.

Where is the fan on a Jeep Patriot?

There is one directly right of the glove box HVAC fan assembly, tucked under the dash board. That motor moves a “door” every time you start your Patriot and it switches from outdoor air to re-circulation air. It is often the first one to break of the 3 motors (plastic gears).

Is there an air conditioner leak in a jeep?

Now, reading all the forums it looks like this evaporator cor leak is a frequent issue with Jeep so if anyone wants to join me to start an action against Jeep, feel free to contact me… I’ll start building a case and contact a lawyer…. OP here. Sorry I never updated this thread last year. I thought I had.
