Why does my Honda tell me to check my fuel cap?
Pressure gets released from the motor side (front) when driving. If your purge valve fails, very little or no pressure (fumes) is released, causing an error message telling you to check fuel cap. I am not a mechanic but I learned this when getting mine fixed. I hope this helps someone getting rid off that annoying message on the dashboard 🙂

Check The Gas Cap Open the gas cap door. If it is dark, take a flashlight with you. You need to be able to see any damage or crack on the gas cap, so you’ll need additional lighting. Grab the gas-cap handle. Twist it anti-clockwise to open it.

Removing and replacing it ensures the thread seals properly, in case it wasn’t before. Turn the gas cap clockwise to tighten it. Continue turning until you hear it click three times. This ensures it’s seating properly.
