Why are the rear windows on my Renault Scenic not working?

What to do if rear window wont open?
I have an 04 grand scenic with both rear windows that wont open. I have done the usual checked all 3 of the fuses, taken the door panels off and removed the motor and regulator then plugged the whole thing into the front door plug and the motor and regulator is working in both directions.
Where are the electric windows on a Renault?
Each window is jointly and seperatly wired (multiplexed) to two earth points at the back of the car somewhere near each side of the tailgate. Renault use low grade connectors and not always the best cabling and it could be as daft as a dirty earth connection or a broken wire.
