Where is the water intake on a Johnson outboard?
The main water intake is behind the prop !
Where does water come out of outboard?
The cooling system on an outboard is a very simple and compact application. Water is inducted through the lower unit by a water pump impeller, and then forced upward to circulate throughout the powerhead, and eventually exits through the exhaust system.
Why is there no water coming out of my outboard motor?
The water pump impeller is the cause of most water circulation and overheating problems. The impeller is essentially a small, round disc with spinning blades used to move water through the circuit of the outboard motor. When the impeller is broken, it stops the supply of water to the engine and results in overheating.
How does a outboard water pump work?
Outboard water pumps are simple designs. The pump draws water through the intakes and up into the housing. The impeller blades (vanes) touch the liner at lower speeds as the driveshaft turns, but as the engine revs up, the impeller blades bend back away from the housing liner.
Where can I get a Johnson and Evinrude Outboard fixed?
EPA made me do it! Part’s at central warehouse, you’ll get it next month. We don’t make parts for those. We only do warranty work. Our techs only fix late models.
When to change water pump on Johnson Seahorse?
Changing the water pump for a 40-horsepower Johnson Seahorse is a project you can undertake during your motor’s winter storage. You are supposed to inspect the water pump at least yearly, and it only makes sense to do so — you’ve got the lower unit off and you have to take the pump apart, so changing the impeller is as easy as inspecting it.
What’s the throttle range on a 40hp boat?
Trolling Throttle Adjustment: +/- 50 RPM increments (600 – 1000 RPM range) via Command Link System

Why does water come out of my outboard?
I hooked it up to water muffs and there is water coming out through the propeller area when the boat is running and the previous owner claims that’s how it’s supposed to be. I find that hard to believe. Any ideas? Is this correct? This is my first outboard so I have no clue. it;s a mercury but what kind. Pee hole’s there for 1 reason…..to pee.
How to check no water circulation in outboard motor?
If the output becomes blocked, it will disrupt water flow throughout the entire engine. To check for blockage, run a small, thin segment of wire up the output tube and gently wiggle it side to side to dislodge any debris. The water flow through the output should come in a regular, steady stream that is warm but not hot. 4) Check the Thermostat
Why is there no Pee hole on a Mercury outboard?
Re: Mercury Outboard no pee hole discharge Not sure, but I believe the “pee” hole discharge system, was partially meant to allow the water to fill an area which the impeller system wasn’t reaching, or water to be routed to an area where there could be a natural “airlock”.
