Where is the coolant leak in my Porsche?
Coolant leak repaired.. I have had a small leak for about a year now from the lower of the 2 coolant pipes in the left wheel arch. A common fault I am told. I don’t think I have put a litre of coolant in, but it has been on my mind to get it done incase it got any worse this year. So I eventually got round to doing this job today…..
What happens when coolant leaks from a Boxster?
When the rubber seal in the cap fails, or when it has not been tightened, the engine will run at a slightly higher temperature. Coolant will also be lost through the cap seal in the form of steam. As these leaks occur around the cap you will see red deposits left by the evaporating coolant.
Why is the oil leaking from my Porsche Boxster?
The seal does dry over time and can leak, however, there are other potential issues that could also cause the seal to leak (see Air Oil Separator below). Causes of the seal failure should be checked thoroughly by a competent shop before you proceed to replace the seal. Porsche Boxsters have a number of common sources for leaking oil.
Can you replace the oil cooler on a Porsche Boxster?
If after replacing the cooler, you need to go to the next stage, having a new oil cooler is not the end of the world and at least eliminates the cooler as the source immediately. If replacing the cooler does not solve the problem, the remaining options are expensive and likely require major engine surgery.
