Where is the coolant bypass hose on a Toyota?
After a bit of research I found it. It’s located under the intake manifold. You can’t see it no matter how hard you try. And I know for a fact that it’s the original one, since I’ve never changed it. To get to it, I’d have to remove the Throttle Body, the EGR stuff, the Plenum, the injector rack, the intake manifold just to get to a $10.00 hose.
Where is the coolant reservoir on a car?
Engine overheating Average rating from 129,829 customers who received a Vehicle Engine Cooling Inspection. The coolant reservoir is the plastic reservoir mounted in the engine bay that stores the coolant for the engine.
Are there different types of coolant flow hoses?
Three types of hoses are; the common hose, the molded or shaped hose, and the accordion type hose. All of these hoses may have spiral wire in their construction. Spiral wire can be molded or inserted into the hoses, in the required shape, when the hose is constructed. The common hose is straight and cannot take much bending before collapsing.
Where are the radiator hoses located on a car?
The upper radiator hose runs from the radiator to the motor. You can usually see most of this hose. The lower radiator hose is harder to find. To locate it, get underneath the car and look for a smaller diameter hose leading from the radiator into the heat wall of the car. Visually inspect each radiator hose.
What’s the name of the fifth coolant hose?
Bypass returns are generally short in length and are often considered a “fifth hose”. Although not commonplace, some engines such as this BMW V8 position their coolant bypass pipes internally in difficult-to-reach locations.
Where are the coolant hoses located on a BMW?
Inside this passageway will be a dedicated pipe for the coolant. One such example is found on BMW-sourced V8 and V12 engines. An overflow hose runs between the radiator cap and the reservoir tank where extra coolant is stored (and added).

Why are the lower coolant hoses so durable?
Note that because lower coolant hoses are exposed to heavy amounts of suction from the engine’s water pump, a resilient spring is wound around the inside of them to ensure the hose does not collapse and block the flow of coolant. Like most components of modern hoses, these springs are quite durable over the long term.
