How much torque do you need for PTFE bearings?
Standard torque requirement of PTFE type bearings is 0.049~1.96N · m {0.5~20kgf · cm}, which is relatively high comparing with ball bearings. Although it is possible to manufacture PTFE type bearings with 0.02N · m {0.2kgf · cm} or less torque, it should allow approx. 0.05mm play as well.
When to use connecting rods and rod bearings?
Selecting connecting rods and rod bearings for an engine is a lot more complicated when you are modifying the engine from stock specifications. OEMs spend a lot of time and money developing the components that go into a stock engine, and cost is usually a factor in what components are used.
Do you have to torque your rod bolts?
Torqueing your rod bolts without pre-determining the required torque to achieve the correct rod bolt stretch is not recommended. However if this is the only tightening method available to you, DO NOT EXCEED THE TORQUE AMOUNT INDICATED FOR YOUR BOLTS. NOTE: Your Crowerods are totally rebuildable.
How to determine the torque of a connecting rod?
STEP 1: Your Crower connecting rods came with a connecting rod specification tag. Check the tag to find the rod bolt part number used to fasten your connecting rods. Rod bolt length listed here is the measurement from under the head to the end. STEP 2: Use the chart below to determine the recommended lubricant, rod bolt stretch and torque amounts.
