What is solid failure?
That’s what I think too… more common terms for ‘solid’ being fatal/catastrophic failure which is obviously non-repairable and ‘marginal’ being either an intermittent failure, random crash, etc. that does not systematically prevent the computer from booting and being usable at least to some extent.
How do solids fail?
One of the most important applications of solid mechanics is to design structures, components or materials that are capable of withstanding cyclic or static service loads. Materials and structures can fail in many different ways, including by buckling, excessive plastic flow, fatigue and fracture, wear, or corrosion.
Can a starter fail and then work intermittently?
Or, just a dead spot on the starter. It certainly can happen. It’s probably something that replacing the starter would fix, but not necessarily (example being the one I had where it was a ground strap the detached and was just sometimes resting in the right spot.
What does intermittent no start mean on a car?
Share it! An intermittent no-start condition references any time where starting is possible sometimes, and other times the engine will not start. This implies that the difference between starting and failure to start is not understood.
What’s the difference between starting and failure to start?
This implies that the difference between starting and failure to start is not understood. When inserting the key, the engine may crank, the engine may sound like it is ‘trying’ to start, clicking may be heard, or nothing may happen at all.
How can I solve the intermittent starting problem?
Throttle position sensor changed to no avail. further testing revealed that the wires around the fuse box had a significant effect on the problem. I think from my testing it’s safe to say the issue is within the wiring inside the fuse box. The only wire I can think of that could cut off injectors would be the injector relay circuit.

Do you know the signs of a failing starter motor?
Knowing the signs of a failing starter motor, can help you diagnose the problem. When Diagnosing starter motor problems, always start with the battery. So, for your starter motor to work properly, your car battery has to be in; excellent working condition and fully charged.
What does intermittent failure to start ipdm mean?
The IPDM relays can be intermittent.Mine was, took 3 months for it to fail outright from the first time it acted up. The relay contacts will glaze, and cause resistance lowering voltage to the ECM. It will still work, but not as it should. The ecm controls injector pulse, and spark.
