What does RCI Travel stand for?
Resorts Condominiums International
RCI stands for Resorts Condominiums International. In 1974, our founders Jon and Christel DeHaan pioneered the concept of vacation exchange. Today we remain the global leaders in vacation exchange, with the world’s largest network of resorts, destinations and vacation experiences to offer timeshare owners.
What is better than RCI?
The general consensus is that II has higher quality resorts (Marriott and Starwood) than RCI. Owners like that II’s membership and exchange fees are cheaper than RCI’s. Several owners find II’s procedures for extending deposits don’t work for them and they have trouble using their deposits with them.
Is RCI timeshare worth it?
YES RCI is worth belonging to as long as you do it right and take advantage of the deals. If you only travel once a year or bought a $30,000 timeshare to join you probably won’t see the benefit. But as beanb41 says, if you are flexible there is no better way to travel. I will never stay in a hotel if I can help it.
What is the cost to join RCI?
The basic membership fee for RCI Exchange, or Resort Condominiums International as of 2021 costs $124.00 per year annually with additional membership level upgrades available for a higher annual fee or yearly cost. The Resort Condominiums International exchange currently has 3 membership levels: Basic, Gold and Platinum.
Does RCI match other travel agent prices?
No, RCI won’t price match with travel agents. You can however still get any price drops until final payment. You just call and have your T/A call and get the reduction for you.
How does RCI work as a timeshare?
Essentially, RCI works by allowing buyers who have either a fixed or floating week (s) to use in various timeshare resorts across the globe to enter into their exchange programme which allows them to holiday in different destinations. A fixed week simply means you purchase the same week to holiday in each year, whereas a floating week can be moved around, with some level of flexibility, to suit the holiday-maker, but both ‘types of week’ can be compatible with RCI exchange programmes.
