Is there a problem with my steering lock?

Got a problem with my 2006 9-3 Estate, 175k miles, 1.8t + Hirsch upgrade. Got in the car the other day, put key in, click as steering lock unset, turned key, nothing!

Why is my steering lock not working on my Saab?

Tried different key (to another saab), displayed “key not recognised” etc so assume both ISM’s are functioning. Moved/bodged ISM past ‘Lock’ position, get “Steering Malfunction, stop safely etc”, still can’t turn it over.

Do you have to activate the steering wheel lock each time you leave the car?

This will prevent anyone from moving your car unless they get hold of the actual keys. You do not need to activate the steering wheel lock each time you leave your car as it will activate automatically if anyone tries to move the steering wheel. Some vehicles will have an indicator light on the dash to let you know if the steering lock is active.

When does the steering lock warning light come on?

The steering lock indicator light should only come on when the ignition is in the off position and the lock is engaged. If you see it come on at any other time, you should have the car checked out by a qualified technician.
