Is the Jacobs 3406b Jake a good car?
Jacobs never perfected this Jake. After, say, 500K miles the slave pistons will wear in their bores, and oil will start leaking by causing poor performance. They only made these for a short priod of time, reason being…fast wear. They sounded really good, (almost as good as the 401 model on the old Cummins) and braking ability was good also.
Which is better a 346B Jake or a 349d Jake?
The only difference in the 3 and 4 mounts, is a little tighter lash on the 4 points. The 346 series will never have much braking ability. The 346D will do better than the rest, although not as good as the 349A. The only drawback to the 349A is longevity. Jacobs never perfected this Jake.
