Is the alternator on my ml270 still charging?
Hi Guys, fitted new alternator to my ML270 charged battery up last night and took it for a 5 mile drive today. Came back home had lunch went back out to start it and the battery was dead.
What does it mean when your alternator stops charging the battery?

With a high resistance cell the alternator can never charge the battery very well, apart from that alternators are not designed for charging flat batteries anyway. Thanks for your reply. So in your personal opinion what do you think is wrong has the battery gone or do you think the new alternator was duff.

If that’s all good then replace the regulator. If not then buy a rebuilt alternator and install it (the rebuilt will come with a regulator). If you’re not very well DIY inclined you could just buy the rebuilt alternator and do the R&R, that’s pretty simple (just be sure to disconnect the battery first!).
