Is the ABS removed from a 2001 F650GS?
I picked up a 2001 F650GS from an inmate here a few months back. It is an ABS model but the ABS system has been removed. I’ve found a DIY guide on how to over ride this by splicing some wires together. Before I dive into this and possibly ruin something I wanted a little extra input. I asked this question on the chaingang forums with no luck.

The GS has a Circlip, and is VERY Simple to Change. Flash#412 Notes: The BMW parts fiche shows the WRONG fork. Therefore, you will get the wrong crush washers. What you WANT is copper washers 6×10 mm, part number 11 14 2 343 240.

What kind of warranty does BMW F650GS have?
Just ask if it has the latest software. A BMW mechanic told me that the F650GS has the lowest warranty claim rate of any bike BMW makes. I don’t know whether this is on a unit basis or on the amount of claim (the latter wouldn’t be as impressive).
How do you change oil on a BMW F650GS?
Place your oil receptacle directly under the drain plug. Then remove the plug using a 24 mm or 15/16″ socket. The oil will drain out. It should be hot or warm. Gloves are recommended. Remember, since the plug is oriented upside-down, you need to turn it clockwise relative to the ground to loosen it.
Can a 2001 F650GS be traded for a 2001 650?
The deal I may get is trading my 1100 for a 2001 low mileage 650 with some nice options including side cases, Dakar screen, ABS and an alarm. And I’d get a couple grand cash on top of that. But maybe I’m better off keeping the 1100 and buying some platform shoes. For some reason my 02 F650GSA runs stronger than an 01 version of the same bike I had.
Are there any problems with the F650GS?
