How does a 1 wire coolant level sensor work?
The sensor works by measuring the temperature that’s being given off by the thermostat and/or the coolant itself. The temperature is then sent to the on-board control system. As the control system receives the temperature from the CTS, it may trigger the cooling fan to either shut off or turn on.
Are there 2 wires for coolant temp sensor?
So is there 2 wires, both a yellow and black wire, in the wiring harness provided for the connector going to the sensor, like in the schematic @Nevada_545posted above? I’ll add I’ve had some difficulty in the past with coolant temp sensors, getting the version with the correct number of leads to match my Corolla’s corresponding connector.
How do you replace a coolant level sensor?
Connect the connector to the new sensor, put in the sensor in the same place where the old one was, and screw the big black pastic nut by hand. Just hand-tightening it as tight as you can (without breaking it) should be good. Put the fan shroud back in its place. This is a tricky step because there are 3 brackets that need to align the right way.
Where is the coolant temp sensor on a diesel engine?
That one is in the left cylinder head between the first two spark plus. The coolant temp sensor for the PCM has two wires and is located near the thermostat. Assuming this is not a diesel engine.
Why do you need ground wire for coolant sensor?
Ground wire is obvisouly needed because the sensor won’t work with the ground wire taped off. Nevada_545 July 6, 2016, 6:35am #5 This diagram is for the 5.3L engine; ok4450 July 6, 2016, 6:35am #6
Where are the wires on the coolant sensor?
It was a wire soldered on to the back of the sensor.” ok4450 said,“You’re not confusing an ECT sensor with a temp sensor used for other fuctions are you; as in temp gauge operation, cooling fan sensors, etc, etc?” Nevada_545said, “The coolant temp sender for the gauge has one wire, dark green.
That one is in the left cylinder head between the first two spark plus. The coolant temp sensor for the PCM has two wires and is located near the thermostat. Assuming this is not a diesel engine.
What happens if your coolant level is low?
If your coolant level is low, there is a chance that you will get air in the system, and the coolant temperature sensor will not read the coolant temperature correctly. If the coolant level is low, you need to refill the coolant to optimum levels. Failing to do so could risk your engine becoming overheated and seized.
Why is the temp sensor on my truck not working?
The one that was on the truck did not look like factory. It was a wire soldered on to the back of the sensor. It doesn’t make sense for a replacement part not to fit? Ground wire is obvisouly needed because the sensor won’t work with the ground wire taped off.
