How to Release a STUCK Shift Lock Release
- Engage the emergency brake / parking brake.

- Insert a key, nail file, or screwdriver into the slot.
- Press the brake pedal while you are pressing down on the override,
- Shift gears as you normally would.

I Start the car as normal; after I start the car, let off the brake, then, without pressing the release button on the gear shift, apply a little pressure to the gear shift (as if I’m trying to pull it out of park) then hit the brake, I hear the solenoid move and I can take the car out of Park as normal.
