Can a 03’V-Star 1100 custom start right up?
Hello, I have an 03′ V-Star 1100 custom. The problem I am having is the bike will start right up and idle fine, but when I turn the throttle the bike dies. When i use the choke it doesn’t die i can ride it around with the choke out but no throttle. I have cleaned both carbs and checked the fuel pump all are good.
How do you remove AIS from a V-Star 1100?
This will cause a leak, usually discovered by finding rust spots on the left side crank case below the AIS tubing. If you’re going to do the job, do it right and remove everything. Spent .45 ACP shell casings are the preferred “plug” to use in the heads. Just tap them in gently. No glue or sealant is needed.

Click to expand… Is it a real choke, a plate over the intake that closes, or an enrichment valve? It’s probably the latter, which will give you a richer mixture from idle to a slight distance into the throttle, but stop contributing much after about 1/4 throttle is reached.

Is the Yamaha V Star 1100 a good bike?
The low seat at about 27 inches is great for those with short legs compared to the bigger cruisers. Quality for price is outstanding. The retro-like bicycle handle bars are just plain cool and comfortable to ride for shorter runs of 150-200 miles. Longer rides get a bit tiring, especially with the stock seat.
