Can a Triumph Trophy start with the side stand down?
Yep…..my ’96 Trophy can start and run as long as it’s in neutral or if the clutch lever is pulled even in a gear. But if you let the clutch out, it cuts the engine if the side stand is down. Can a Triumph motorcycle run with the sidestand down?
All three of my Triumphs will start and run in neutral with the sidestand down. Yes, I believe it is faulty. It should stay running with the bike in neutral and cut out immediately when put in any gear. Yes, I believe it is faulty. How can I bypass the side stand switch?
There is a very easy way to bypass the side stand switch. Remove the two wires from the switch and and install a paper clip into both wires this will tell the system that the stand is up. This will also tell you that if the unit runs that the switch itself is bad at that point take electrical tape and rap the wires and order a new switch.

Is there any way to bypass the side stand safety switch?
Side stand bypass? Is there any way I can bypass the ridiculous side stand ‘safety’ switch on my ’91 Trophy 1200? Due to where my bike is located I need to get on and off it at least twice to get out the back gate and having to stop and restart the engine constantly is annoying.
