Why is my XF DSC not available restricted performance?
I have had the restricted performance indication on after only 2000 miles. The EGR valve was replaced under warranty. Hard to tell whether it had been changed or not looking at a newish engine. The dealer said it was sticking. Can’t be due to mileage so hope it is just a one off and not a sign of things to come. ( MY first Jaguar)
What does it mean when your DSC is not available?
Not Jaguar specific but there are three types of error you’ll get with (modern) cars. I’m not quite sure of the correct terminology and CBA to google for it but it boils down to Permanent – It needs manual clearing. Short term – It will clear in x number of cycles (where the cycles would be ign on/off).
Why did my DSC fail after 12, 000 miles?
This was clearly not of satisfactory quality from build time as it has failed in less than 12,000 miles. Servicing manager confirmed it should not fail with 12,000 miles usage and also confirmed that there is no way of driving the car or misusing the brake pedal to cause the failure.
What to do if Jaguar DSC is not available?

Could be a number of things e.g. wheel sensor, but if the message disappears then the detected fault has been cleared which points to an intermittent fault rather than something broken. Electrical connectors and wet conditions are good for this sort of issue. Fault codes should be logged even if the fault goes away.
What happens when you disconnect the battery on a Jaguar?
When the battery is disconnected, these adaptations are lost. On reconnection, therefore, some slightly abnormal drive symptoms may occur and the vehicle may need to be driven10 miles (16 kilometres) or more while the control system re-adapts. this is a simple link for resets after battery disconnect.
