It now only flashes once every few minutes or so and when the hazard light is ‘on’ as in pressed in, the lights are off but when it is in the off position as in popped out they turn on! It turned out to be a failing multifunction switch (turn signal, cruise control, wipers, etc). It’s a known problem with GM vehicles of this era. Try spraying some CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner into the base of the switch at the steering column to clean the switch contacts.
Why do Audi hazard lights keep going off?
The car is with Audi at the moment (under warranty thankfully) and they have changed the Hazard Relay. Since changing this part, it has gone 24 hours without the hazard lights turning themselves on for no reason. I will keep an eye on it for the next week and see how it goes.
