What makes a creaking noise during a stop?
You only hear the noises when the vehicle is in motion, and only at low speeds…times when the struts would be moving from side to side in the mounts. When the vehicle is stopped, they only move up and down. same issue here. I have 2006 with 50000 miles and this noise in rear is driving me nuts.
Why does my Honda make a clunking noise when I hit a bump?
Dealer changed the struts, checked everything to include the braking system. After a year or so and a couple of dealerships, they adjusted the brake heat shield a little as it was rubbing or hitting something. That eliminated the annoying sound when driving over the reflectors on the middle of the road.
What causes hollow clunking noise over small bumps?
Click to expand… Check the stabilizer bar links and ball joints. It helps to use long prybar on links. Grab the tire at 12 and 6oc and try to wiggle, same with 3 and 9oc. If you feel extra play pay attention what is moving. Could also be engine/tranny mounts. Hmmm, they checked the suspension and if they DID, that eliminates my thoughts.
Why does my Lexus clunk over small bumps?
He has a Lexus and he heard the same sort of clunking over little bumps. He said it was his brake pads as they were floating, they can rattle. He said try slightly tapping on the brake over where you would normally hear the clunking noise, this will help poi point if it was the brakes. I will try this later on my way home. I think this could be it.
