Fornost was captured, and King Arvedui fled into the northern wastes and was lost in the Icebay of Forochel with the two palantirs he had saved from the forces of Angmar. Meanwhile Fornost became the dwelling of the Witch-king and his evil folk, usurping the house of the old kings.

What happened to Annuminas?
After TA 861, the ruins of Annúminas belonged to the successor kingdom of Arthedain. The two relics which had been housed in Annúminas survived the city: The Palantír was taken to Fornost with the city’s abandonment, but was ultimately drowned with Arvedui in the cold northern seas.
