The build quality is outstanding, the pickups are hottish, and the bridge is plenty substantial. I used to mod less expensive instruments, but for the last 10 years or so I like to keep them stock. This Squier has everything I expect from much more expensive instruments. So far, it has exceeded all my expectations.
