Why do shows have lost episodes?
While this doesn’t happen all the time, episodes of various TV series have been completely lost over the years. There are a variety of reasons this happens, with human error and unsafe storage practices being at the top of the list. Regardless of how it happened, it’s rough when someone’s hard work is lost.
What are missing episodes?
A show is canceled (be it short-lived or long-running) and has some episodes that have never been aired (cf. Dinosaurs and King of the Hill) or, in the case of Mission Hill, the episodes were in pre-production and incomplete and had to be scrapped when news hit that the show has been canceled. It’s literally missing.
