What is Synapause?
Estriol succinate, sold under the brand name Synapause among others, is an estrogen medication which is used in the treatment of menopausal symptoms. It is taken by mouth, in through the vagina, and by injection.
What is estriol used for?
Estriol is a weak estrogen used to treat vaginal dryness and estrogen deficiency conditions, such as vaginitis and vulvar itching. A hydroxylated metabolite of estradiol or estrone that has a hydroxyl group at C3-beta, 16-alpha, and 17-beta position. Estriol is a major urinary estrogen.
When is the best time to use estradiol cream?
Estradiol emulsion should be applied in the morning. Estradiol gel may be applied at any time of day, but should be applied at around the same time of day every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
What do Vagifem tablets do?
VagifemĀ® belongs to a group of medicines called vaginal Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). It is used to relieve menopausal symptoms in the vagina such as dryness or irritation. In medical terms this is known as ‘vaginal atrophy’. It is caused by a drop in the levels of oestrogen in your body.

There are 3 types of FDA-approved local estrogen therapy (LET) options: a vaginal ring, vaginal creams, and a vaginal insert (VagifemĀ® 10 mcg).
How safe is estriol?
Some studies have shown that estriol is safe and effective for symptoms of menopause. When applied topically for vaginal atrophy, estriol has been reported to be effective with other drugs. Because estriol is less potent, it may have fewer adverse effects.
How long can you take estriol?
In order to prevent endometrial stimulation, the daily dose should not exceed 1 application (0.5 mg estriol) nor should this maximum dose be used for longer than several weeks (maximum 4 weeks).
