Can anyone use the Rice university library?
Yes, the library is open to the public. Visitors are required to present a current government-issued photo ID when they enter at the library’s East Entrance. Access via the West Entrance, facing the pavilion, is restricted to Rice ID holders.
Is Rice university library open to public?

Can freshmen have cars at Rice?
While many of our new students do not initially bring cars to campus, and most students do not need a car, a number of upperclassmen have cars. Automobiles must be registered, and there is a parking fee. Ample parking space is available in our stadium parking lot for students who choose to bring their cars with them.
Do Rice students live on campus?
About 75 percent of Rice undergraduates live in the on-campus residential colleges. On-campus housing is not guaranteed beyond the first year at Rice. Although most of the students who want to live in the colleges can be accommodated, demand usually exceeds the available number of rooms.
When does the Fondren Library open to the public?
Friends of Fondren Library members may continue to request books via email. For questions about your membership or Rice access card, please contact Friends of Fondren Library by email or calling 713-348-5157. Fondren Library will be opening exclusively to Rice faculty, students and staff on Monday, August 3, 2020.
Is the Fondren Library open to Rice alumni?
Rice University alumni have access to the Rice Alumni Digital Library. For borrowing privileges, alumni can join Friends of Fondren. As alumni, they can do so for a reduced fee. At this time, all Friends of Fondren members receive: Advanced notice of lectures, receptions, the annual gala, and other special events.
Do you have to wear a mask in the Fondren Library?
Fondren Library is currently requiring all visitors to wear masks at all times inside the building. Food and drink are temporarily prohibited in the building until further notice. Tours for high school students will not be scheduled for the Fall 2021 semester.
Where can I pick up my rice ID?
Rice ID holders can request on-shelf and LSC materials for pick up after a 24 hour processing period (business days) at a holds shelf near Circulation. Please use the self-checkout kiosk to checkout materials before leaving the building.
