What does Camp America do?
What is Camp America? Camp America is a cultural exchange programme that gives you the chance to spend your summer living and working on a summer camp in the USA. We’ll support you from start to finish to make sure you have the experience of a lifetime!
Where is Camp America based?
Location: The camps are located in Greeley, Pennsylvania; about 45 minutes northeast of Scranton, Pennsylvania. All three camps are within a 1-mile radius of each other in the Pocono Mountains.
How much money do you need for Camp America?
I’ll start by saying that Camp Counselors must have access to at least $300 upon entry to the USA. Support Staff need $1000. This can be in the form of cash, a pre-paid debit card, or a credit card. This is so that the US Department of State know that you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of your trip.
What age can you do Camp America?
18 years or over
You must be 18 years or over before the 1st June of the summer you want to take part in. This is due to visa and insurance regulations that we must strictly follow. You can still start your application and be interviewed before you turn 18 though!
How long is summer camp in America?
Most Summer Camps start between mid-May and late-June and run for about 9 weeks. You’ll spend 9 to 12 weeks out in America as part of your Summer Camp experience. It’ll be the time of your life!
Does Camp America pay you?
Your camp will pay you directly as a reward for all your hard work. Camp America will organise and book your flight and make sure you get to camp when needed and help you get back again! Your camp will also pay you directly as a reward for all your hard work and efforts over the summer.
Do you get days off at Camp America?
If you are at a camp where the campers stay overnight, you will normally be given a period off during the day to have some time to relax. Obviously there always needs to be staff working, so you’ll work on a rota basis with the other Counsellors. You’ll also have certain evenings off and normally 1 full day off a week.
Is 24 too old for Camp America?
No definitely not. Camp wouldnt work if all the counsellors were 18 and 19! You need the older more experienced counsellors as well as the younger newbies.
