WHAT IS LIFE LIKE AS A CADET? Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy face a rigorous schedule of academics, athletics, military training, high expectations, and strict rules of conduct. Cadets are constantly challenged physically and mentally.
What can I expect at the Air Force Academy?
Cadets participate in military training, Commander’s Calls, briefings, commissioning education, or real-world research at one of 19 research centers. Cadets are required to complete 10 physical education classes, including boxing, water survival and team sports.

Is the Air Force Academy a good experience?
Overall it was a great experience being at the US Air Force Academy. The people were great and I learned a lot about life. If you are interested in becoming an Air Force Officer then you can’t go wrong. It is a free education and will provide you with endless opportunities.
How tough is the Air Force Academy?
Applying to USAFA. The Academy is very competitive with a 12.3% acceptance rate. While not quite as competitive as Harvard, it’s still tougher than most of the UC-system schools, and a lot harder to get into than UGA. The application process is more difficult than average and must be pursued aggressively.

Do all Air Force Academy cadets learn to fly?
No, cadets must volunteer and be medically qualified to try and become an Air Force pilot. The majority of each class chooses to go to pilot training after graduation, but roughly half of our graduates are selected for a variety of other careers.
