ROME — Lucio Dalla, the Italian songwriter and singer whose music became the soundtrack for the lives of generations of Italians, died on Thursday in Montreux, Switzerland, where he had been performing. He was 68. The cause was a heart attack, said his lawyer, Eugenio D’Andrea.
