How does a ShopBot work?
With a ShopBot, you use the included software to design your parts on your personal computer, then, like a robot, the computer controls the cutter to precisely cut your parts. In the past, tools like ShopBots were strictly industrial tools and were referred to in factories as CNC (for Computer Numeric Control) tools.
What is CNC insert?
Inserts are removable cutting tips, which means they are not brazed or welded to the tool body. This saves time in manufacturing by allowing fresh cutting edges to be presented periodically without the need for tool grinding, setup changes, or entering of new values into a CNC program.
How much does a Handibot cost?
With Handibot ($2,000), every DIY enthusiast now has access to a portable CNC (computer numerically controlled) mill. For those not familiar with CNC equipment, this industrial technology lets you programmatically, repeatably, and precisely cut, carve, or drill various materials.

How do I upgrade my ShopBot control card?
It is possible to upgrade most ShopBots to the latest V2xx Control Cards, though not all features will be supported on older tools. Give tech support a call to find out whether a new Control Card would be beneficial for your tool. Download the installation program to your computer, then run it to install the ShopBot Control Software.
When is ShopBot tools closed for the holidays?
ShopBot Tools, Inc. is closed New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Outside of normal office hours, we regularly check for support requests, email and phone messages.

Each new ShopBot tool includes powerful design software to create to create CNC projects. Nominal Cutting area and Total Movement Area refer to the areas that can be covered using a single z-axis. Actual cutting width is decreased by 10” when using a second Z axis.
