What is Diamicron Mr 60mg used for?
DIAMICRON 60 mg MR is used to control blood glucose (sugar) in patients with Type II diabetes mellitus. This type of diabetes is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM), or maturity-onset diabetes).
What is the best time to take Diamicron?
The recommended daily dose is one to four tablets (maximum 120 mg) in a single intake at breakfast time. This depends on the response to treatment. Diamicron 30 mg is for oral use. Take your tablet(s) with a glass of water at breakfast time (and preferably at the same time each day).
Is Diamicron the same as gliclazide?

How much Diamicron can I take?
A single dose should not exceed 160 mg (2 tablets). When higher doses are required, Diamicron 80 mg Tablets should be taken twice daily and according to the main meals of the day. In obese patients or those not showing adequate response to Diamicron 80 mg Tablets alone, additional therapy may be required.
How effective is Diamicron?
After 10 months of treatment, Diamicron®MR was as efficient as Diamicron® in controlling blood glucose, with a mean end point difference in HbA1c of −0.08 (0.08)%, significantly lower than the equivalence limit (p<0.001). Similar results were obtained for FPG.
How safe is Diamicron?
Adverse effects were reported by 22 patients, including dizziness and light-headedness, diarrhea, nausea, palpitations and pruritus, but none required modification of Diamicron therapy. The results therefore show that Diamicron is safe, effective and well tolerated in suitably selected NIDDM patients.
Can I take Diamicron twice daily?
For standard-release gliclazide, the maximum daily dose is 320mg (4 x 80mg tablets). If you need to take more than 160mg (2 x 80mg tablets) a day, take the tablets twice a day with your morning and evening meals. For slow-release gliclazide, the maximum daily dose is 120mg.
