Can you access first direct without secure key?
If you don’t have a Secure Key You’ll need one before you can access our App or Online Banking.
How do I reset my digital secure key?
First, get your old phone and log on to the mobile banking App. Then, on the ‘more’ menu, go to security settings. Then tap ‘deactivate Digital Secure Key’. And then ‘deactivate now’.
Why does my HSBC Secure Key says Fail 1?
If you enter an incorrect PIN, you will see the message ‘FAIL 1’. Press the green button to enter your PIN again. You will have three attempts to enter your PIN correctly. Your Secure Key will remember the number of failed attempts you have made.
Can you replace the battery in a HSBC Secure Key?
The batteries for your Secure Key are unique to the device. If your battery has run out of power, please contact us and we’ll order a new device for you.
Can First Direct app use Face ID?
Yes, you can enable Touch ID or Face ID by going to your device ‘Settings’ and following the instructions to capture the biometric supported by your mobile device. If you delete and reinstall our App, you’ll be prompted to enable your biometric again the next time you log on.
What happens if I lost my HSBC Secure Key?
If your original physical Secure Key is lost or you think it has been stolen, please call us immediately on 03457 404 404 to deactivate it. We will order a new secure key for you, all you need to do is follow the online instructions to activate it when you receive it.

How do I change my HSBC username?
Once you have created your username it can’t be changed. However, you can change your memorable question, password or security questions from within online banking.
How do I reset my HSBC online banking username?
If you’ve forgotten your username for Personal Internet Banking, you can recover it online. What you’ll need: Social Security number. HSBC Debit, Credit, or ATM Card Number….
- Go to the Log On page for Personal Internet Banking.
- Click the Forgot username? link.

Can I use someone else’s HSBC Secure Key?
Can I use someone else’s Secure Key? No. Once you activate your Secure Key, it’s uniquely linked to you.
Can you have HSBC on two phones?
Can two people use the same phone as their Digital Security Devices? No. For security reasons, your Digital Security Device can only be registered to one phone at a time, and only one Digital Security Device can be registered to any one smartphone.
