Can a bad valve cover gasket cause gas smell?

The connector on the base of the air cleaner could be connected to the side where you are going to leave the breather. The ‘stock’ish set up would have been a PCV valve and one valve cover connected to the bottom of the intake. Carb base.

BUT that ‘air’ has to be replaced, hence why the ‘inlet’ is connected to the air filter so clean air is sucked into the crankcase thru the air filter. The last thing u need is unfiltered air getting into the crank case /oil/ and dust go thru the bearings and stuff.
