What will make the clutch pedal stuck to the floor?
There are four components that can cause the clutch pedal go all the way to the floor:
- Failed clutch release bearing.
- Failed slave cylinder.
- Failed clutch master cylinder.
- Broken clutch linkage.
- Warning: Do not attempt to start the engine and drive the vehicle with the clutch pedal stuck all the way to the floor.
How do you know if your clutch is burnt out?
You are most likely to notice this when putting the car in reverse and first gear.
- Slipping. This is exactly what it sounds like.
- Burning smell. A burning smell many times goes hand-in-hand with a failing clutch.
- Noises.
- Sticky or stuck pedal.
Why does the clutch stick down on my Audi TT 52?
My wife has an Audi TT 52 plate. Recently on a number of occasions when she selects a gear after starting the car the clutch pedal stays down after the foot is removed. We are able to physically pull the pedal up and then it works normally although a little sluggish for first few gear changes. Is this a hydrolic pressure problem?

This car’s problems remind me of my old Opel GT. Oh well, part of a sports car charm. An expensive sports car. I own a 2002 TT -225hp manual. When I accelerate rapidly the car veers to left. Take my foot off gas and car straightens out. Service Dept. checked alignment and steering.
Do you need a slave cylinder for an Audi TT?
Feedback from the audi mechanic (not the girl on the service desk!) is that the car needs a slave cylinder but theres a 99% chance that the clutch and flywheel have burnt out. They can’t tell me for sure until the gear box is out. Funny that they quoted £600 for the slave and clutch kit but you add on a flywheel and the price goes up by a grand!
