Where are the sensors on a C7 ACERT cat?

Where are the sensors on a C7 ACERT cat?

They are located on the driver’s side of the engine behind the front cover under the HEUI pump. The bottom sensor is the primary crank sensor. When it fails, the engine can be hard to start. By shooting in the engine, the RPM elevates high enough and the primary running sensor picks up the signal and the engine runs.

What should the oil pressure be on a Caterpillar C7 engine?

A. Observe the status for “Engine Speed”, “Actual Injection Actuation Pressure” and “Engine Oil Pressure” on Cat ET while the engine is cranking. Record the following data: Results: The observed engine speed is above 100 rpm and the actual injection actuation pressure is at least 6 MPa (870 psi) while the engine is cranking.

Where do you find Cat et on Caterpillar C7 engine?

As each solenoid is energized by the ECM an audible click can be heard at the valve cover. Listen for a click at the valve cover. Cat ET will indicate the cylinder number as each solenoid is being energized. Replace injectors that do not produce an audible click.

Why is my C7 ACERT cat hard to start?

What should fuel pressure be on C7 ACERT cat?

You could still have a fuel pressure problem. Even though you have replaced the fuel pressure regulator, you could have a problem with the fuel transfer pump. I would install a PSIgauge and check the fuel pressure while cranking. The C7 needs at least 25 psi to start.

How can I test my ACERT cat engine?

The only way to test would be to install a cutoff valve at the inlet fuel line to the pump and the return fuel line at the regulator. When the engine is shut down, turn one of the valves off and wait. Then open the valve and see if it starts. If it does, you’ll know the part near the valve is where the problem is.
