How does cat 3116 perform in the truck?
People is avoiding Cat 3116 all together. How does it perform in the truck? Can someone share with me some of your experience? Thanks a lot They use them in the m35a3 and they worked well there. Once again using search would head off what will become a “my engine is better than yours” thread.

Is the Caterpillar 3116 engine a good engine?
My M35A3 is equiped with the CAT 3116. Good engine, starts on the first revolution of the starter, runs strong. Do a little info search on the engine. They are utilized as marine powerplants and perform well. They are a little more $$ to maintain, however, if you buy an MV for collection/fun purposes, you will never wear it out
Is there an injector pump on a cat 3116?
the 3116 does not have an injector pump.just a governor/fuel pump.the injectors themselves are opened/closed by the camshaft. That must be why you have to adjust the fuel rate from under the valve cover, in the rack. yup and many special tools are needed to do it. I got a 3 & a 10 pound hammer, and vice grips!

Why is my Caterpillar 3116 engine leaking oil?
Thought the cause was the common catch all for the HEUI “dirty oil” cause. Just checked the tank vent line and it was clogged. Caterpillar upgraded the oil cooler gaskets because they all leak. They also changed the high pressure oil line design a few times, also leaked.
