Why are the tail lights on my Freightliner M2 out?
Freightliner m2 tail lights out. On the road now I’m on the road. Noticed tail lights are out. It’s a 2005 m2 106 Break lights and turning signals work but tail lights don’t. Box markers etc are all working. I checked the fuse box on the wheel well but there isn’t even a fuse for lights. No burnt fuses

Got pass last nite around 10pm east side of Memphis on 40 west bound by a kitty st8 with the only lights working was headlights. It went through the scale house without getting stopped.

No tail lights and no Clearence lights. So I checked all the grounds looked good checked everything pretty much it was good. So I decide to run a cable to from the battery directly to main wire that goes all around the box lights to check and see if + gets to them.

Brake lights not working narrowed it down to the AMU. Problem fixed got home doing a walk around on the truck and noticed something hanging a couple of inches from the driveshaft. Turns out it was the complete block where the AMU sensor is located with all the air lines.

Located on the frame crossmember just forward of the rear axle. When looking at it, it will be the switch to the right (driver side) of the cluster, have air lines in and out and a 6 pin harness going into it. Please save yourself expensive repair bills and time to trace wires, locate fuses/relays, multiplexing… yada yada.

Only thing we can figure is that it has an air switch that when you push the brake pedal with air pressure built up then That puts the brakes on. Because when there is no air pressure, then pushing the pedal doesn’t turn on the brake lights. Only problem is we cannot find that air switch.

Freightliner uses 2 different power sources and differest sides of the switch for headlights and marker lights. You could have bad contacts on the marker light side of the switch (up side only). I won’t swear to it.
