Why does my Dodge Ram not shift gears?
So cycling between drive and reverse is hit or miss on if it moves. The truck will also roll in neutral now. Well the truck is shifting perfectly fine now through all gears. Not really sure what the issue was yesterday. Possibly a valve or sensor issue. Thanks for the help.
What makes a Dodge Ram 1500 not move?
The shift cable is fine, the transmission fluid is good. It’s throwing codes P0700 and P0841. I found a transmission service bulletin (TSB 21-007-06) that says a bad transmission cooler return filter and transmission sump filter can throw those codes, but would that also make my truck just sit there?

Having the light come on does not necessarily indicate whether the overdrive is indeed functioning as it should, but it is a good first step. You may try turning the overdrive function on and off to try and get the light to function properly. Put the Dodge Ram into drive and drive forward slowly at first, accelerating as you move.

Sometime will not shift out of first gear until rpm’s are very high. If I use the accelerator gently, it will shift correctly most of the time. If I press down hard on the accelerator, such as shifting into passing gear, it seems to start the shifting problems I just explained. Next time I start the truck it will shift through all gears perfectly.

Check the connectors at the transmission for corroded terminals. This is very common on older RAMs. *Incorrect outputs from the Distance or Coolant Sensors. A punky Distance Sensor can caused a weird collection of symptoms, including no 3-4 shift.
