Dex 6 is fine to mix with Dex 3. Just do filter and replaced drained fluid.

DEXRON-VI is also compatible with any former version of DEXRON for use in automatic transmissions.
Is DEXRON III the same as DEXRON VI?
Dexron VI is a lot more stable at higher temperatures and lasts longer. It can also be used to top off dexron 3, however, you can’t use dexron 3 if you already have dexron 6 originally in your trans, or if it has been flushed with dexron 6.
How many quarts of fluid to fill 4L60E at service?
The 4L60e’s fluid volume is 12 quarts (dry) of transmission fluid. This volume is based on a stock, with a 12 “torque converter,” shallow “transmission pan.” The ability of additional fluid will range from an extra quart or more with a deep pan.
Is a 4L60E interchangeable with a 4L80E?
FYI – 4L60E & 4L80E transmissions are NOT directly interchangeable. The wiring pinout of the trans plug is different, and 2 VSS’s are used versus 1 on the 4L60E. Besides the wiring difference, the ECM also requires a segment swap as that portion of the transmission control is completely different.
