How to disengage a stuck four wheel drive line?
Stop the vehicle and shift from four-wheel to two-wheel drive. Place the vehicle in reverse and drive backwards for 15 to 20 feet. Drive the vehicle forward slowly to allow the loosened shims to disengage. Proper maintenance is the best way to prevent problems with four-wheel drive hubs.
Why is my 4 wheel drive light not engaging?
If you don’t shift it into neutral, the 4wd light will continue to flash and won’t get into gear. Seems to be a common occurrence on these trucks. Dodge dealers recommend engaging 4-lo, then back in 2-wheel drive, then back in 4-wheel drive hi (4H). This sequence apparently resolves the problem.
Is the truck automatically engaging in auto 4WD from 2WD?
During all of this driving was not affected and the truck stayed in 2wd like it was in prior to the situation. Just saw your post and read the thread. Thanks. I will pull out the switch tomorrow at work and check the solder points and maybe replace the switch.
Why is my 4 wheel drive car stuck?
by Contributor. Four-wheel drive vehicles can become stuck in four-wheel mode due to improper lubrication or lack of use. This is a common problem and is usually not a very serious situation.
