Rotate the crankshaft in normal running direction (clockwise) until the piston crown lightly strikes the positive stop. Now, radially adjust and lock the degree wheel to the crankshaft at 40 degrees before T.D.C. at the pointer. Now rotate the crankshaft backwards to the positive stop.

What happens if crankshaft pulley breaks?

Can you degree a cam with the heads on?

What to do if your crankshaft is misaligned?
The belt should be very tight on the right side tensioner and the water pump pulley with everything lined up, before pulling the pin on the tensioner. Once that’s done, put in your crank pulley bolt without the crank pulley and rotate the engine through two full turns of the crankshaft and make sure all the timing marks line up again.
