Why does my key set off my car alarm? It just knows the door is opened. The key fob is specifically coded to the car and transmits an encrypted signal so the car knows that you used that fob to open the door at that point in time and thus disarms the alarm.

It does not care what key is being used, as there is no transponder/code in the key. If the alarm is armed, it will go off if the door is opened regardless of what key is used, or if it were broken into. See my post #4 above for the solution to this problem.
