Is the air conditioner weak on a Subaru Forester?

One item my Wife, Son and I have noticed is the Forester has a very weak AC compared to the others. Temps are in the low 80s around here and we find ourselves having to crank the AC to full blast. Even then it will barely cool the car during the 20 minute test drive.

A compressor, Condenser, Evaporative (Evap) core, Expansion valve, receiver dryer, hoses and lines, thermo sensor and the controls. Inside the car there are a series of ducting or blend doors and their respective controls. I am not really going to give a class on how the ac system works I will save that for another article.

Cabin filter is clean. Never had a problem before with it on MAX AC for a long period of time, or at least half way up and temp set to LO. Saw a video on replacing the AC flow sensor that connects on top of the compressor, for only 20 bucks on ebay, i ordered it and hope thats all there is to it.

We are comparing the Forester to the CRV and boy is there a difference in the operation of the AC. With a stronger AC, and rear AC vents, the CRV makes quick work of cooling the car. About 5 minutes into driving the CRV, the AC can be dropped back to low to maintain comfortable temps…

Why is the AC on my Subaru touring not working?

When I took my ’17 Touring in for some routine stuff at the dealer this past January, I mentioned that the AC was sometimes blowing room temp air. The service tech found that both of the AC compressor O-Rings were leaking & replaced them & recharged the system & so far, it’s had no more problems.

When did the 2017 Forester air conditioner stop working?

Last year the Air Conditioner stopped working on the 2017 forester at ~10K miles and almost 1 year old. No cool air at all. Dealership replaced the condenser. Now, about a year later it is broken again! I know there is a TSB out there for AC issues, but should it really be an annual thing?
