What was the problem with the Saab 9-3 TTID?

Are there any problems with the remote fob on a Saab?
There does not appear to be any location for a visible LED though, the fob is identical to this one, seen on ebay. I cannot see anything wrong with the internal board at all, nothing looks fried,.

They sent what they termed “an engineer” out to look at the car, and they have confirmed that yes, the small turbo on the twin turbo has failed, and whilst the fuel injector does have damage this may be due to the failure of the small turbo. They go on to state that further investigations are required to ascertain why the damage has occurred.

When I was looking there was chat of reliability problems but the 1.9tid engine is solid if not that exciting and, for my daily commute, it’s been a perfect car considering the relevant price of equivilant German manufacturers. It can cruise at a decent speed, it returns around 48mpg and is very quiet and comfortable.

Saab 9-3 1.8T Vector Sport, to give it the full mouthfull name. It’s actually a 2.0 engine – Saab de-tuned the 2.0 Turbo from 175bhp to 150bhp/180lb ft to bring the tax bracket down a bit. Effectively, it’s the same engine, so taking it up to around 200bhp is quite easy. I wasn’t expecting a flying machine, but it’s actually quite quick!
