Driving – cold: throttle respons is bad, then a few seconds later its OK,…. then no matter what speed I’m driving the throttle is all of a sudden not responding any more. It feels like my throttle is freezing up,….NOT litterally ofcourse,…..the foot-pedal pumping action works throughout this “freezeup” session.

Why do I lose throttle response when I shift into 4th gear?

The car’s a manual transmission and for no good reason I usually shift into 4th gear (out of 5th) slap down the accelerator pedal a couple time to rev the engine while the cluth is depressed between gears and the accelerator will wake up and I’ll get throttle response again and all’s well.
