At 170,000 I had a head gasket leak. Even though the cost was $700 for the repair it was worth every penny as the van has ran and held up great over the years. I couldn’t have been more happy with the van.

I have owned my 2003 Montana for about 8 or 9 years now. I will cry when it finally dies. It has been a workhorse of a vehicle. It’s comfortable to drive, and can haul more cargo than you can imagine. I’m hoping to hit 300,000 miles on it.
What makes a Pontiac Montana a good car?
Reliable, comfortable, able to tow a tent trailer up and down mountain passes, great cargo capacity. Interior is comfortable and super durable. Carpets are still in great condition (carpets on our Mazda 3 wore through after about 5 years).

We bought our 2000 Montana when it was a couple of years old and had 45,000 kilometers on it. The only real hiccup we have had in the 14 years we have owned it was a coolant gasket failure at about 100,000 km. That was a known flaw on GM vehicles and a lot of owners experienced the same problem.
