Re: I got a 09 pontiac g6 wont start.there is no crank no… You have know idea how the starting system works , an with the engine light on your best bet would be to have it towed to a qualified repair shop .
Why is my GM no crank no click car not starting?
The starting procedure on these vehicles is fairly complicated and the root problem lies in the ignition switch. The ignition switch does NOT directly control the starter motor like in older designs. In this vintage, GM uses the ignition switch as a signaling device to tell the body control module the position of the lock cylinder.
Why is the crank on my Pontiac G6 not working?
When the ignition switch is turned to the Start position, the body control module (BCM) receives battery voltage on the ignition 1 voltage circuit, and less than 5 volts on the off/run/crank voltage circuit. The BCM supplies voltage to energize the RUN/CRANK Relay 32.
Why does my G6 not start when I turn the key?
This just means that the engine doesn’t move when you turn the key. The second way that your G6 won’t start is when the engine turns when you engage the starter, but it won’t fire and run on its own. When the engine isn’t turning over at all, that’s a bit easier to diagnose than when it is cranking but not firing.

What is a typical GM starting system wiring diagram?
Click on the image here to pull up a PDF of a typical GM starting system wiring diagram. Depending on the year, model and engine of your GM vehicle, your starting system may be less complicated or use only some of the components shown here. For example, earlier anti-theft systems didn’t communicate the same way with the PCM.
How does the ignition switch work on a GM car?
In this vintage, GM uses the ignition switch as a signaling device to tell the body control module the position of the lock cylinder. There’s one voltage when the key is in the lock position, another when it’s in the START, and a third when it’s in the RUN position. But the BCM should never see voltage when the key is in the ACC position.
