Why does my 2005 Grand Prix GT2 stall?
2005 Grand Prix GT2. Ever since I bought it three years ago I have had a intermittent problem with starting. When I start it up it turns over, starts sluggishly, and then stalls. This doesn’t happen every time but it happens a lot!!

I have replaced 3 alternators since I bought it in 2000, had the tranny rebuilt at 128k, replaced the starter once and the battery 2 times. Done the ball joints and tie rod ends on both sides. So I am pretty familiar with the car, but this hesitation thing has me lost!

It seems to happen more when I am stopped at a gas station, (not getting gas)- as crazy as that sounds. When it won’t restart, it will turn over and crank and act like it’s not getting fuel.

Had a mechanic work on it and they replace the crank sensor and it ran fine until I got home. A few days later I have the same problem. I have a 95 Grand Prix 3.1 and its been having problems lately. It starts hard in the morning. And you have to give it quite a bit of gas when taking off because it doesnt act like it wants to go. If you leave it idling it the rpms will start dropping and it will start sputering really bad.

I have an 06 gp base sedan 3.8 v6. @106000 we changed the trans filter ,every 3000 since we owned the car oil was changed.it suptters @30 mph to 70 mph we lost a price from the injector clip ….got a new harness …never a problem again. 9 people found this helpful.
