Why did my check engine light come on after cold air intake was put?

Not open for further replies. I put a spectre cold air intake that was made for my car the other day and I reset my ecu and already went 100miles. As soon as that happened the check engine light came ok and now I’m worried. What happened?! I need to get this problem fixed ASAP.

How to idle and relearn Nissan p0507?

Wait EXACTLY 7 seconds and press the pedal and keep it depressed for about 10 seconds until the check engine light starts blinking. If the check engine doesn’t blink after 20 seconds, turn the key to the OFF position. Wait at least 10 seconds and begin the procedure from the start.

What to do when ECM says p0507 trouble code?

At a certain point, the ECM can no longer compensate and sets a P0507 trouble code. You must remove the electronic throttle body to clean it. Apply throttle body cleaner to a clean rag and wipe the carbon off the throat and throttle plate.

How does a cold air intake system work?

A cold air intake is a type of engine air intake system that is designed to bring cool air into the engine. Cold air intakes often uses shorter, smoother piping, as well as strategic filter placement away from the heat of the engine to bring cooler air into the engine than would normally be provided by a non-cold air intake system.

How can I tell if my cold air intake is bad?

An illuminated Check Engine Light is also a common symptom associated with a problematic cold air intake. If any of the sensors that are installed in the intake detect any issues, they may set off the Check Engine Light to notify the driver of a problem.

Why is my engine light not working after air filter replacement?

I was towing a heavy trailer and was ingesting lots of air so the code wasn’t surprising. The MAF will burn off the contaminants if they aren’t too bad (mine did). The excess filter oil will not make it through to the O2 sensors. There can’t be enough on the filter to load up the O2 sensors.

Can a blocked air filter cause a check engine light?

A blocked air filter can prevent the turbocharger from building sufficient boost pressure. Since turbocharger performance is monitored by the ECM, lack of boost pressure can cause the ECM to turn on the CEL. It should be noted that the air filter must be extremely restricted to turn the CEL on in a modern, naturally aspirated vehicle.
